LHY Powertrain (formerly Linde Hydraulics) – drive hydraulics from the dealer

LHY Powertrain – known until the rebranding as Linde Hydraulics – develops and manufactures axial piston pumps, hydraulic motors and control valves for high-pressure hydraulics with operating pressures up to 500 bar. Motrac Hydraulik GmbH has been the manufacturer's authorized dealer since 1959 and supplies adjustment and control pumps of the HPV-02 and HPR-02 series from its location in Willich, as well as motors of the HMV-02, HMR-02, HMF-02, CMV and CMF series, and original spare parts. Beyond pure distribution, the service portfolio also includes the design of complete hydraulic drive solutions, an extensive range of bearings, and qualification for modifications and modifications to LHY units.

What makes LHY high-pressure hydraulics special?

All pumps and motors of the LHY series -02 are based on the axial piston principle in a staggered disk design with a pivot angle of 21°. The controls of the pumps operate with a load-independent adjustment mechanism: an identical control command always results in the same machine response regardless of the control method — mechanical, hydraulic or electrical. This enables fine-tuned, reproducible machine control, for example in drive systems and working hydraulics of mobile machines. Control elements such as torque control or pressure cut-off adapt the power consumption to the available drive power. For applications with high rotational speeds and confined installation spaces, inclined axis motors (Bent-Axis) complement the program.

Axial piston pumps: series HPV-02, HPR-02 and CPV

The Adjustable pumps of the HPV-02 series are designed for closed hydraulic circuits and form the core of hydrostatic drive systems. The Regulator pumps of the HPR-02 series Operates open circuits, such as for work hydraulics with load-sensing control. The CPV is the new generation of slant-plate pumps for the closed hydraulic circuit. With the proven advantages of the 02 series, complemented by standardized interfaces and an optimized flow concept, it achieves a high efficiency. All series are available as single, tandem, and multiple pumps and cover the majority of the mobile power spectrum with various nominal sizes.

The Adjustable motors HMV-02 (cylinder capacity 55–280 cm³, rated pressure 450 bar, peak pressure 500 bar, torque up to 1,930 Nm) allow for a continuous or two-stage adjustment of the displacement — hydraulically or electrohydraulically controlled, optionally with a PTO (PTO) and as a double-engine version. The Regulator motors HMR-02 It complements the same displacement class with an automatic speed limiter via an internal control valve. The Constant motors HMF-02 (35–280 cm³) is the low-maintenance solution for applications with a fixed load profile; if desired, it can be supplied as a flange motor with standard connection options.

The oblique axis series CMV (adjustable, 60–215 cm³) and CMF (constantly) offer direct power transmission through the inclined cylinder block arrangement with minimal steering loss — the first choice for high speeds, long-term use and confined installation spaces.

Selection criteria for pump and motor

Open or closed loop?

Hydrostatic drive systems typically operate in a closed loop (adjustment pump HPV-02 or CPV plus adjustment motor HMV-02). Working hydraulics with multiple consumers are supplied in an open loop using control pumps from the HPR-02 series. The loop type determines the pump series – and therefore the appropriate valve and control options.

Adjustable motors (HMV-02, CMV) adjust the displacement to changing load and driving conditions and extend the usable speed range. Regulated motors (HMR-02) automatically limit the maximum speed – relevant for safety or emission requirements. Constant motors (HMF-02, CMF) are the most robust and economical solution for fixed load profiles.

Shaft-driven motors offer high control dynamics and power density in a compact footprint. Shaft-driven motors achieve higher speeds and long-term durability with lower mechanical losses. The choice depends on the space available, the torque profile, and the thermal requirements of the application.

The required displacement volume results from torque requirements and system pressure; the -02 series covers displacements from 35 to 280 cm³ (slanted disc) or 60 to 215 cm³ (slanted axle) with nominal pressures up to 450 bar. Depending on the model series, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, pneumatic and electric variants are available for control. Our engineers are happy to assist you in the design process.

Typical areas of application

LHY drive units from the Motrac range are primarily used in mobile work machines: in construction machinery (excavators, wheel loaders, drive systems and tiltrotators), in agriculture and forestry (self-propelled harvesting machines, forestry cranes, attachments), in municipal vehicles, in mining, as well as in the marine industry and in the on- and offshore sector (winch, cable and crane applications). In the stationary sector, the units are used in presses, conveyor systems, testing stands and machine tools — also as retrofits in existing systems.

Frequently asked questions about drive technology

What is the difference between LHY Powertrain and Linde Hydraulics?

It is the same company: Linde Hydraulics has rebranded as LHY Powertrain. The product range, model designations (HPV, HPR, CPV, HMV, HMF, CMV, CMF) and part compatibility remain unchanged. Original replacement parts for components bearing the Linde logo will continue to be supplied.

Yes. As a contract dealer since 1959, we also supply original spare parts for older Linde series from our own stock and perform qualified repairs and conversions. In the event of cancellations, we provide compatible successor solutions to support you.

Yes. Beyond distribution, we develop complete hydraulic drive solutions — from pump motor design to customized control units produced in-house using CNC technology, and even combinations with valve technology from the in-house brand IMAV Hydraulics.

Information on application, required torque or flow rate, system pressure, flow pattern (open/closed), drive power and available space are helpful. Based on this information, our engineers recommend the appropriate series and nominal size – also as an alternative to discontinued third-party products.
